Thanks for taking the time to stop by carnysideshows.com, and thanks also for your interest in carny sideshows: weird wonders of the midway, the book that chronicles my experiences attending coney island usa’s famed sideshow school, where students are taught the arts of sword swallowing, fire eating, glass walking and other highly useful skills. hopefully you’ll find something here that strikes your fancy, but first, a

thing or two about the books and the website.

while the book covers my time at sideshow school, it also follows along as i delve further into the world of the sideshow, meeting performers--such as the olde city sideshow (philadelphia, pa) and cheeky monkey sideshow (washington, d.c.) to name but two--who live for those moments on stage where they can shock, awe, inspire, entertain and create impermeable memories in the minds of their audiences.

more than 2,000 photographs were taken during the process of putting carny sideshows together, with little more than 10 or so used in the book. this website will take the time to not only reveal some of those shots that ended up on the cutting room floor, but also some of the experiences, tales and unique people that didn’t make it into the pages of the book.

so, feel free to take the time to roam. there’s a blog (assuming i’ve gotten around to updating it recently), that should provide room for more than a few good stories, as well as a place to see photos and maybe even a video or two.
